I’m simulating a collision using SIMON/DyMESH involving two generic vehicles. No damage occurs and the vehicles do not behave as expected. What’s wrong?
Question: I’m simulating a collision using SIMON/DyMESH involving two generic vehicles. No damage occurs and the vehicles do not behave as expected. What’s wrong?
Answer: Generic vehicles have very few vertices (e.g., about 40); A typical custom mesh has well over 1000. DyMESH requires vertices to calculate the force and deformation. To simulate a collision involving generic vehicles using DyMESH, use the Event Editor’s Tessellation option (see Set-up, Vehicle Mesh, Tessellation). The Tessellation option reduces the maximum space between vertices. The default value is 20 inches. A reasonable range is 10 to 20 inches; a smaller value potentially yields greater damage resolution, but takes longer for DyMESH to process.
