The licensing of HVE system software, physics programs and databases can either be controlled by "locking" to a code specific to a single computer, or to a portable hardware dongle called an EDKEY™. The EDKEY provides the flexibility to use the software on multiple computers, such as a desktop and a laptop. Simply plug the EDKEY into the computer that you wish to run the software on, and the application is "unlocked" for you. This flexibility makes it easy to share copies of the software between users in an office, or provide the ability to work on computers at your office, your home or while traveling.  EDKEY's are available in two styles:
- USB - the USB style EDKEY (shown as the purple key in the image) is supported on all Windows 98, Me, 2000 and XP computers with USB ports. This style is fully plug-and-play and provides great convenience if there is easy access to USB ports on all your computers.
- Parallel Port - the parallel port style EDKEY (similar to the grey key shown in the image) is supported on all Windows operating systems. This style of key is often times inserted between your computer and printer (if installed, does not affect printing). However, many new computers, especially notebooks, do not have a parallel port available for this style of EDKEY.
When purchasing your software, please specify if you will be "locking" HVE to a single computer or if you will be choosing a USB or parallel port style EDKEY.
