  Environment Editor

The purpose of the HVE Environment Editor is to provide the physical and visual environment attributes which may interact with humans and vehicles during the execution of a reconstruction or simulation model. The basic physical/mathematical model of the environment provides information for an atmosphere, fog, astronomically positioned sun and physical environment gravitational constant and surfaces that may be used to model interaction forces.

The HVE Environment Editor allows users to create and edit or import 3-D environments. Editable parameter groups include:

  • Physical Properties
    Location (Name, Latitude, Longitude, GMT), Date, Time of Day, Atmospheric Conditions (Wind Speed, Wind Direction, Barometric Pressure, Temperature) and Local Gravitational Constant.

  • Material Properties
    Surface Constants (Stiffness, Damping, Friction), Unloading Slope, Bekker Soil Exponent, Soil Modulus (Frictional/Cohesive), Moisture Content, Clay Content

  • Sky Attributes
    Ambient Light Intensity, Sky Color, Fog (Type, Maximum Visibility Distance, Color)

Many file formats can be directly imported into the HVE Environment Editor, including:
  • 3D Geometry — (HVE, DXF, Inventor, VRML)

  • 2D Images — (RGB, TIFF, GIF, JPG, BMP)

Scanned photographs (bitmaps) may be used as a quick and convenient way to provide a realistic background or sky. However, a scanned photographic image provides no physical information (elevation, slope, friction) to the current calculation model.
