HVE users tend to study complicated vehicle dynamics issues and work with highly detailed environment models as part of their regular routine. For the best performance in both graphics rendering and calculation performance, we suggest that a high end desktop or notebook be used for HVE.

Configuration:

• Intel Pentium 4 or Intel Dual-Core Core 2 Duo or similar Processor
• 1 GB RAM (recommended - the more the better!)
• 128 MB OpenGL compatible graphics card (NVIDIA is recommended)
• 17" or 20" desktop monitor preferred (for notebook computer, 15" or larger)
• 3-button mouse

Operating System:

• Windows XP - For the best experience and performance when using HVE, EDC recommends the Windows XP operating system for your desktop or notebook computer. Windows XP has proven stability and suitability for the hardware platforms currently available from manufacturers and retailers. If you are looking to purchase a new computer, EDC strongly suggests you choose a manufacturer and model that offers Windows XP installed on your new computer, such as Dell, HP or other recognized brand name.

• Windows Vista - Anecdotal reports from users who have purchased new computers with the Windows Vista operating system indicate they have been forced to relearn their usual routines working with the operating sytem, forced to change or update other software programs and they also have experienced unexpected graphics and video behaviors. For these reasons, EDC does not recommend Windows Vista at this time.  We will continue to monitor reports from users and development community forums and adjust this recommendation when appropriate.
