Version 9 Release Date Announced at 2012 HVE Forum

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA, USA - February 27, 2012 • In his 2012 HVE Forum opening remarks, Terry Day, President of Engineering Dynamics Corporation, announced an April 20, 2012, release date for HVE, HVE-2D and HVE-CSI Version 9. He also presented and discussed several of the important new simulation technologies and features that users will be able to take advantage of, including:

DyMESH Version 3 - Wheel ImpactDyMESH Version 3 computes the collision forces and moments for wheel-to-sprung mass and wheel-to-wheel impacts. The model is rigorous, that is, each wheel is a DyMESH object with a mass and a mesh (just like a vehicle). Its properties are defined by the tire dimensions, inertias and radial stiffness. Applications include truck and trailer under-ride resulting in wheel impact and the typical intersection collision where a wheel represents a hard region affecting collision dynamics.

DyMESH Version 3 - 3-D Stiffness CoefficientsDyMESH Version 3 uses 3-dimensional stiffness coefficients that employ a 3rd-order force vs. crush relationship with crush saturation. This new model allows the user to start with the nominal A,B model and then extend it to include the non-linear effects associated with severe crush. Individual coefficients are tuned with a user-editable conversion coefficient that relates existing A,B to the new A,B,C,D coefficients.

HVE Driver Model Path Visualization • The path that the HVE Driver Model attempts to follow is now visualized directly in the event. Once the user establishes the attempted path by placing targets at key positions, the attempted path calculated by the spline algorithm is displayed as a dotted line.

High-Definition Video Output • The Playback Window, used for creating simulation movies, has been redesigned and is now called the Video Creator. Users can take advantage of new off-screen rendering capabilities to produce movies in standard (640x480), DVD (720x480) and high definition HD (1280x720 and 1920x1080) AVI formats. Improvements also include the ability to control the recording speed frame rate to produce slow-motion movies directly in the Video Creator.

These are just a few of the new technologies and features available in Version 9. For more information about the enhancements for HVE, HVE-2D and HVE-CSI, contact EDC at 888.768.6216.
