Trailer Separation in SIMON in Version 9.1

Simulation of trailer disconnection resulting from mechanical failure or collision forces/moments is one of the new simulation technologies that will be available in HVE Version 9.1. The robust handling of the vehicles post-separation allows for detailed study of a trailer's free-rolling trajectory, roll-over and collisions with other objects. Screenshots from a SIMON/DyMESH simulation of a collision between a pickup and a trailer towed by an SUV that results in separation of the trailer from the SUV are shown below:
