	PROGRAM VERSION
	SIMON 3.40 (5/20/2009 Patch Release)

PART CONTENTS
1 Changes to SIMON software since the previous version

===<Part 1: Changes to SIMON Software>=============================

Section A: Enhancements
(none)

Section B: Bugs Fixes
1. SIMON did not respond to user-entered gear shift tables. This
problem has been corrected. Only simulations involving a
transmission gear shift table were affected.

This file includes two parts:

PART CONTENTS
1 Changes to HVE software since the previous version
2 Changes to SIMON software since the previous version
3 Changes to EDVDB software since the previous version

(There are no changes to the other HVE software components.)

===<Part 1: Changes to HVE System Software>=======================

Section A: Enhancements
1. The Calculation Options dialog for SIMON has been extended to
support the new SIMON tire model (see Changes to SIMON, below).

Section B: Bugs Fixes
1. After opening a previously saved case file, HVE would crash in
the Event Editor when a vehicle was selected. The presence of
this issue depended on HVE's state when the file was
originally saved. This problem has been corrected.
2. On some previously saved case files, after working in the file
HVE would crash if the user attempted to open another
previously saved file. The presence of this issue depended on
HVE's state when the file was originally saved. This problem
    has been corrected.
3. Tire tracks were not handled correctly in the Playback Window.
    This problem has been corrected.
4. Human Set-up, Position/Velocity was not working properly.
Duplicate human instances resulted when a human occupant or
pedestrian was repositioned, in some cases causing a crash.
Positioning multiple instances (e.g., Impact, Begin Perception)
was not stored as separate instances. Subsequent selection
caused a crash. These problems have been corrected.

Section C: Other Changes
(none)

===<Part 2: Changes to SIMON Software>=============================

Section A: Enhancements
1. A new tire model has been developed with better fidelity at
high slip angles. This tire model, called the EDC Semi-empirical
Tire Model, Version 2, is now the default for new SIMON events.
In-house validations have shown there are small differences in
the results (i.e., about 1 to 2 ft per 100 feet of trajectory
length) when comparing the results from Version 1 and Version 2.
All previously run SIMON events will continue to use the
original tire model and may be run with the new tire model by
switching tire models in the SIMON Calculation Options dialog.

Section B: Bug Fixes
1. For tires having tire friction, cornering stiffness and camber
stiffness properties at more than one speed, those properties
were somtimes not interpolated properly (depending on current
load and speed). The result could affect simulation results,
and in rare cases caused SIMON to crash. This problem has been
corrected. (In the EDC tire database, only heavy truck tires
have the above properties for more than one speed. Thus, this
problem was limited in scope to heavy truck simulations.)
2. If a vehicle had an ABS system and the HVE Brake Designer was
used, the SIMON Vehicle Data output report was corrupted. The
ABS parameter names were over-written by the corresponding
values. This formatting problem has been corrected.

Section D: Other Changes
(none)

===<Part 3: Changes to EDVDB Software>============================

Section A: Enhancements
1. The following new vehicle is included:

	Make/Model/Body Style Model Years
	-----------------------------------------------------------
	Yamaha Rhino 660 2004 - 2007

NOTE: The following parameters were estimated based on
experience and judgement because actual test data
		were not available:

		  Exterior Stiffness Coefficients
Sprung Mass Rotational Inertias (Ix, Iy, Iz)
		  Tire Data (Cornering Stiffness)
		  Suspension Front/Rear Ride Rates

The raw data file for this vehicle is available upon request.

2. The following new tires are included:
	Type Manufacturer	Model Size
	--------------------------------------------------------
	Light Truck	Generic AT25x8-12	LT203/81R12
	Light Truck	Generic AT25x10-12	LT254/65R12

Section B: Bug Fixes
1. The geometry file for the 2004 Jaguar S-Type sedan
(PCJaguarSType044Dr.h3d) included green icons (small spheres)
at the seat belt anchor locations. These icons have been
    removed.
2. The geometry file for the 2004 Dodge Intrepid 4-Dr sedan
(PCDodgeIntrepid044Dr.h3d) included an incorrect front bumper.
    This has been corrected.
3. The 1982-1985 Toyota Celica, a rear-wheel drive vehicle, had
the drive axle set to front wheel drive. This has been corrected.

Section C: Other Changes
